This program targets youth less than 18 years old who are juvenile delinquents or youths at-risk of becoming delinquent. Youth will get to experience firsthand what a jail or prison environment can be like. This program also focuses on preventing youth from participating in future criminal behavior.
Through jail or prison tours and aggressive presentations by inmates, youths get to observe the consequences of criminal behavior and the harshness of life inside prison. These practices are intended to "scare" youth into leading a straight life without crime.
Coordinated trips to institutions such prisons, jails and detention centers are planned two or three times a year. With parental permission and signed liability waivers youth can participate in this program.
In today’s social climate and school climate, we can observe a new trend among our young adults and even adolescents. More and more of our youth are losing interest in school and are not fully appreciating the value of a good education. Due to the various social influences, peer pressure, and unstable living conditions, we are being challenged to really “come out of the box” in our efforts to steer young minds away from the numerous pitfalls that are so prevalent in our community. Too many of our youth are making decisions that are leading to severe consequences, with regards to their freedom, health, broken family trust, bad anger management, social influences and their education.
